Over four consecutive weeks, you'll learn the essential techniques of wheel throwing, trimming, glazing, and handbuilding while creating functional pottery you'll be proud to use at home.
Located in historic downtown Wendell, NC, Zebulon Pottery welcomes students from Raleigh, Zebulon, Wake Forest, Knightdale, Clayton, Rolesville, and surrounding communities.

What You'll Learn
Week 1 — Wheel Throwing Basics

Center clay on the wheel

You'll spend most of the class getting comfortable with the pottery wheel.
Week 2 — Trimming & Refining
Once your pottery has dried to the proper consistency, you'll learn how to:
Trim pots
Improve proportions
Refine shapes
Finish your pieces professionally.
This is where your pottery begins to look polished.
Week 3 — Handles, Attachments & Decoration
Learn techniques for adding:
Mug handles
Decorative elements
Texture
Surface design
You'll discover how small details transform simple pottery into functional works of art.
Week 4 — Handbuilding & Finishing Techniques
Pottery isn't just made on the wheel.
During the final week you'll explore handbuilding techniques that complement wheel throwing and expand your creative possibilities.

For every class/event, the pottery making process from start to finish happens in a few steps.
1. One hour session on the pottery wheel at your scheduled appointment time.
2a. Choose your glaze color; pot(s) will be dipped at the studio by an employee. This is included in the class price.
2b. Come back to paint/glaze your pottery (generally two weeks after class). This is included in the class price. No appointment is needed for this part.
3. Final pickup (generally two weeks after the studio or you glaze). All pieces are microwave, dishwasher and food safe.
